New Year, New Resolutions

Well, it's a new year and with that comes everyone joining gyms to lose weight or get in shape and people making new year's resolutions. I'm not big on making those kind of promises to myself because I rarely keep them. Over the past year, I have tried to do several different kind of blogs and haven't been able to keep any of them going. I am converting my scooter blog into an all-purpose blog to talk about whatever I am up to. Sometimes it might be a concert review or sometimes it might be a travel journal or sometimes it might be me opining about something I find interesting or trivial. I am debating over whether to import some of my other blogs into this one. Only time will tell on that one.

In the meantime, I do have a couple of goals for 2009.

Here they are:

1) Keep a concert journal this year. I've got a couple Moleskine notebooks to write up concert reviews and keep pictures and ticket stubs in. Last year, I saw over 50 shows and never wrote any of them up. My intuition is telling me that 2009 is going to be a great year of live music, with new albums from some of my favorite musicians, spring/fall tours, and hopefully discovering some new musicians.

2) Go to church more regularly. Work has put a wrench in the works this past year and I find my spiritual life lacking in so many ways. This is important to me and I really need to put forth a better effort to go to church, either in the morning before I go to work or in the evenings on my weekends off.

3) Start work on my next documentary project, whatever that may be. Re-edit my first documentary into something longer. Enter documentary into festivals.

4) Write more.

5) Read more.

6) Foster friendships with people who feed me intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. Get rid of people in my life who are negative and bring me down. Life is too short to be around that.

7) Travel to someplace I have never been before. Someplace that English is not widely spoken.

8) Live life as fully and completely every day.

There you have it. My new year's resolutions that I said I didn't want to make. Here's to a prosperous and delightful 2009.
