Castel di Sangro, Italy

06.17.2010

Today was a fairly chilled out day.  I ran errands with Gianni all morning and got to see the various grocery stores in town.  I think Castel di Sangro has gotten bigger in the past few years.  They seem to have a little bit of everything, although I didn’t see a scooter shop!

After running errands, we stopped by the house.  Teresa’s mother was getting a physiotherapy treatment (aka at-home physical therapy).  I am not 100% sure what is wrong with her but from the looks of it, she had a stroke and it was a debilitating one.  She is bed-ridden and is not able to speak much, but she can verbalize pain because when the physiotherapist moved her just the right way she would let him know it!  He was really nice and I had a basic conversation with him in my choppy Italian.

Teresa served us lunch, and as usual, it was TOO much food!  I ended up taking half of my lunch back to the apartment to have it for dinner later.  I thought Gianni was going to come back later, but he didn’t so I tried to get caught up on postcards and journaling. I feel like this is a neverending battle.  I just don’t seem to have the time.

I left the apartment later to wander around town for a bit, then went back and heated up dinner.  The lunch leftovers were almost too much for me too!  I tried to pack up a little bit so I wouldn’t have to do it in the morning.
