Traveling to Bayonne.....

April 15th, 2010

As I write this, I am sitting on a TGV train to Bayonne, France. In order to stay on top of blogging, I have been writing out my blog in MS Works first, then copy/paste into Blogger when I have internet. I imagine as I start the Camino, internet will be less prevalent and this will be a good way to keep my thoughts down in one place.

I got a good night of sleep last night, went to bed around 10p and woke up all bright eyed and bushy-tailed around 5a this morning. Since it was evening back home, I took the opportunity to use Vincent’s internet phone to call my parents. I think I already blogged about this in an earlier post, but now I am a little more awake, so it was good to talk to mom and dad and tell them of my adventures in Paris.

Vincent has been a wonderful host. He has gone out of his way to make sure I was taken care of. Without him, I would probably still be wandering the streets of Paris!

This morning he brought me a croissant and a pain au chocolat (my favorite!) for breakfast and I had some espresso with sugar. It was delicious. We got to the train station in excellent time, or so we thought. I didn’t realize there was more than one train station for us to go to in Paris and unfortunately, we were at the wrong one! We were at Gare du Nord and needed to be at Monteparnasse. Whoops! Again, we were lucky, because Vincent is “The Man” when it comes to public transportation in Paris. We quickly ran to catch the #1 to the #4 and arrived at the correct train station with about 20 minutes to spare. Phew!

I still have not met up with Kimberly or Viviana yet. There just was no time at the train station to look for them. I hope we meet up in Bordeaux, if not sooner on the train. I don’t even know if they made it to the 10:45a train. Worst case scenario, we meet tomorrow in Bayonne.
