Pre-Cannonball Ride: We rode to

Pre-Cannonball Ride: We rode to our starting point at Pacific City, OR. I led about 10 or so CBRers on ride to the coast. I also discovered that my cell phone will only allow me to send a very short text message to email addresses, so my blog entries may not be every day.

Let's take a step back to Friday. I had a fellow Cannonballer, Mike Heytens, staying at my house while he waited for his scooter to arrive. On Friday, Mike and I spent the better part of the day running around doing errands and other last minute stuff. I left him at my house around 3 p.m. so he could work on the daily route directions, while I went off to daily Mass at the Cathedral. I was hoping to get my scooter blessed. Fr. Chun was celebrating Mass and I was able to ask him afterwards if he would bless my scooter. He said "yes" and came outside to bless my scooter. It was really cool!

I then went to Meriweathers on NW 26th/Vaughn for dinner with some of my close friends. What a blessing! It was soooo cool to sit there chatting and sharing stories and eating a really good meal. My friends took the time to bless me with their presence and to bless my trip. I came away from the evening feeling relieved, at peace, and most of all, very lucky to have such a great group of friends (and family) who I knew were supporting me through their kind works and their prayers. Wow!

Saturday morning, I dropped Mike off at P-Town Scooters so he could pick up his scooter and get it ready. I went home and prepared to pack my own scooter up. My friend, Chris, came over and was a great help in packing the scooter up. I am not sure we had any meaningful conversation, but it was great to have him there.

I went over to P-Town Scooters around 11:30 a.m. to meet the other Cannonballers and see what the plan was. I had said I was willing to lead a ride out to Pacific City, but I wanted to take a more "scenic" route. There were about 10 people who decided to take me up on the offer. We left Portland around 2 p.m. and arrived in Pacific City, OR around 5:30 p.m. It was a great ride and my scooter did have a minor issue. Yep, it soft-seized! Not a fun thing, but now I am in the presence of several P200 experts, so I got some good advice that I will share with you later.

After checking in to the hotel, we all went over to Webb County Park for dinner with Top Dead Center SC and the Flying 15 MC. Afterwards, we went to the beach where the Flying 15 proceeded to launch bowling balls from a cannon into the ocean!!!

I headed to the hotel early so I could re-pack my stuff and write in my journal and try to post to the blog. Okay, that's all for Saturday.
